Delicious, In Every Sense of the Word
Coffee beans, grounds, and iced delights will be back at the Starbuck Vintage & Artisan Market this year, thanks to Beau Coffee Company. The Starbuck-based coffee roasters will come stocked with beans from around the world, with new flavors from Costa Rica, Columbia, Ethiopia, Burundi, Tanzania, and Sumatra.
“We’re introducing two new organic lines this year,” says owner Liz Beaumia. “We have a warm organic from Columbia we use for espresso beans and organic beans from Ethiopia—from the Guji region.” Another specialty coffee bean new this year hails from the Yirgacheffe region in Ethiopia. In addition to being the rumored birthplace of coffee, the Yirgacheffe region is at a high altitude—between 1,700 to 2,200 meters above sea level—where beans grow and mature more slowly. The additional time on the plant produces a rich, smooth flavor.
Another new bean coming to the Market this year is a Tanzanian Peaberry. “The beans are very small,” Beaumia says. While the typical coffee berry contains two seeds (beans), peaberry beans are a unique mutation, producing solo seeds. “Coffee producers used to throw them away,” Beaumia laughs. “After WWII, Japanese coffee drinkers developed a taste for peaberry beans and started requesting the size. Now, it’s becoming a popular bean all over the world.”
The Beau Coffee Company will feature cold brew coffee at the Vintage & Artisan Market, complete with a variety of syrups for flavor. They’ll also bring hot coffee on Saturday morning “for the early risers.” Learn more about ordering beans or local delivery at BeauCoffeeCo.Com.
